IDEOLOGY:
The idea of vintage thought is built on the philosophy that the arts are the most influential thing on earth. While we may not all be artistic we are all creative. We are a species of dreamers, thinkers, lovers, problem solvers, builders, sub-creators, speculators, and questioners. We are journeying through this life built in the image of our God. He is the Creator of All Things and we are in his image so it makes sense that we identify with creativity so heavily.
Understanding the weight and gravity of creativity and art upon our species it makes sense to look at why it has effected us so much and why we identify with it so well. It also makes sense to look at the amalgamation of creativity, art, and culture through the Gospel of the one who created us. Vintage Thought is about exploring art, creativity, and history through the lens of the Gospel of Christ. It is dealing with the fact that the future is the direct result of understanding the past and letting that understanding impact how we live today.
Vintage at it’s root means classic or veteran. It’s the most basic representation of something. It is what someone or something is known for (ie – “Purple Haze is vintage Hendrix”) I hope to learn from history and Christ. I hope to apply what I learn in my life and express my journey through art and creativity that someone else might connect with it. This is the heart of Vintage Thought and I hope that it resonates in you, challenges you, and brings you warmth. Enjoy…
